Increasingly complex requirements for automation processes and increasing demands in terms of monitoring and recording operational data have led to an ever-increasing number of sensors in the field for process technology. This means that space and time-saving wiring of signals in signal marshalling panels in the process and energy generation industries is becoming increasingly demanding. Our modular terminal blocks for signal marshalling enable extremely compact yet clear panel design. The additional signals for automation can be easily connected and processed.
Automation in the process industry requires flexible solutions for complex production processes. Your circuit diagrams are no less complex and often undergo changes shortly before the end. With our new range of DCS marshalling terminal blocks you can solve these challenges. Even a „last minute change“ is feasible for you without having to change the wiring you have already done.
Thanks to the single and double-level arrangement of the terminal blocks, combined with the provision of the four basic functions (continuity, disconnect, fuse, ground), you achieve maximum flexibility when connecting your devices wired in the field. We also offer you an alternative to connecting the shield to PE for your potential-free shielding concepts.
The planning phase with our Klippon® Connect W2C and W2T terminal blocks
The complete provision of data in the Weidmüller Configurator (WMC) optimises the entire design-in process. The wizard assists in the selection of the appropriate accessories so that an optimal and 100 % safe product configuration is achieved.
The new W2C or W2T range has broad international approval spectrum for use in process-related hazardous and non-hazardous areas, as well as marine applications.
For maximum signal wiring density in the control cabinet, the new single- and double-level terminal blocks offer a wide range of functions in the smallest possible space. With the two-tier terminal blocks you can realise up to three different electrical functions - fuse/disconnect, continuity and PE.
The terminal blocks are all equipped with Weidmüller's self-locking and maintenance-free clamping yoke technology. This has proven itself in practice over decades, and guarantees you unique connection security and reliability.

The single- and double-level terminal blocks are also available with an integrated PE contact on the DIN rail to enable reliable shielding of incoming field cables. This saves space in the control cabinet.
As an alternative to the PE connection of the shield, you can use a potential-free shield bus. This is available as an accessory and can be subsequently integrated into the single-level terminal blocks. The shield bar makes it possible to use a potential-free ground for the shield to avoid coupling loops for interference currents in the ground system.
Double cross-connection options on all levels of the terminal blocks enable distribution of the potential of analogue and digital inputs and outputs efficiently and conveniently. Single-level terminals even offer up to three cross-connection channels.
Disconnect and fuse terminal blocks allow easy change of functions by replacing the disconnect lever with a fuse holder, or vice versa. This means that even short-term changes in control cabinets are possible – without affecting the existing wiring.
The operation phase with our Klippon® Connect W2C and W2T terminal blocks
To simplify and increase efficiency when checking signal loops, the STB versions are equipped with plug-in sockets. They allow direct and safe insertion of standard test probes.
When testing DCS signal loops, the test probes can only be inserted in front of and behind the closed safety lever. When the lever is opened, they can remain inserted to enable "make-before-break" testing.
The left multifunction channel can be used for mounting a marker or for a third cross-connection. It is also suitable for cross-connecting feed-through and disconnect terminal blocks lined up next to each other.
Our endless strip markers fit perfectly on the modular terminal strip. They can be fixed without a grid and in one piece over the modular terminal block and end plate. This increases flexibility in planning, installation, and operation.
Secure contacts and simple operation: with advanced PUSH IN tension clamp connections
Coloured operational elements allow you to logically arrange the PRV terminal blocks so that the signals can be assigned without error
Thanks to the high contact density and optimised shape, up to 1,700 signals per metre of width in the electrical cabinet can be connected
The busbar’s unique V-shape compensates for the varying expansion of material and ensures low and constant contact resistances
The new design of the fuse holder includes a pivoting safety latch – this enables the fuse to be replaced quickly and reliably.
Weidmüller’s proven screwconnection mechanism guarantees that the product will be easy to operate, recognize, and maintain anywhere throughout the world.
Instead of using a screw connection to contact each signal at the routing levels, pre-assembled cable sets with BLZ mating profiles are used. This saves you valuable wiring time in the field.
The WMF terminal block has three cross-connection channels; they are a very flexible solutions for bundling and looping through of potentials. The standard ZQV cross-connections can be used to join both the neutral wire and also a shielded potential voltage across a large number of poles.
The world's leading manufacturer of high-tech polymer materials Covestro AG and SBM Steuerungsbau- und Montage GmbH use PRV signal marschalling terminal blocks from Weidmüller.
Space in the cabinet has been scarce for quite some time, and highly sought after. Increasingly complex requirements for automation processes and growing demands in terms of monitoring and recording operational data have also led to an ever-increasing number of sensors and measurement devices in the field for the process industry – while a clear overview, safety, and easy handling still remain important. To update the substation in its production, Covestro AG worked with partners including cabinet specialist SBM Steuerungsbau- und Montage GmbH. To implement increased customer requirements in some areas, they used components such as terminal blocks for SIGNAL marshalling (PRV) from Weidmüller. This allows them to create an extremely compact, yet easy to understand cabinet design.
Mr Marius Bernau, Maintenance Management Covestro, is excited: “Thanks to the use of PRV terminal blocks, we were able to create over 8,800 connection points on less than two meters of terminal rail. And all without restricting the overview and ease of handling”.
In the old switchboard, the signal lines were installed on the signal strips with cable lugs or soldered contacts, and routed from there to the controllers. This solution made wiring more complex, required a large amount of space, and made maintenance work more difficult.
The old substation consisted of many cabinets full of cables and connection points. The goal of the revisions was to achieve a high level of wiring density, in which the signals could be connected in series in an easy to understand way.
Due to the increased requirements that apply in the chemical industry, in some parts of the system the terminal blocks also needed to fulfil intrinsic safety requirement EX i under IEC/EN 60079-11.
