Hurtle through undiscovered worlds and experience wild adventures without even moving? The Venturer makes it possible – with the right technology from Weidmüller.
The Venturer simulator is a car that contains seats and a large screen. A hydraulic system allows this car to move in concert with the film shown on the screen. This makes it feel as if you are hurtling through space or a canyon. Most of the technology inside the Venturer comes from Weidmüller.
To ensure that small adventures like those in the Venturer are absolutely safe for every passenger, there are official regulations. DIN EN 13814 is a safety standard that determines the technical specifications for rides such as carousels, Ferris wheels or roller coasters. The guideline, which was introduced a few years ago, regulates how, for example, fairground visitors must be secured during the ride and how errors in the electronic control of the installation are to be prevented.
Due to the now valid Europe-wide standard, many rides in Germany will also have to be technically retrofitted in the near future if they are more than three years old. The construction and the electrical equipment are documented in a comprehensive construction book, which is checked by the TÜV (Technical Inspection Association).
The Venturer has been completely technically revised by Stockmann Elektromontagen in accordance with DIN EN 13814. The chassis on which the simulator gondola is located is a truck from 1992. The company from Minden specialises in industrial and cable assembly as well as retrofitting amusement rides and controller assembly in accordance with the new standard.
To adjust the connectivity as well as the automated data transmission in the simulator to the new standard, Stockmann Elektromontagen installed plenty of Weidmüller products in the system.
For example, in order for the mechanics to generate synchronous movements to the film being shown and for everything to function reliably and, above all, safely, the entire technology must be connected and centrally controlled. And the automated data transmission also has to be reliable. This is exactly where we come in.
u-remote offers a customised I/O system for automated data transmission - and also in compliance with standards in the control cabinet of amusement rides.
At the heart of the u-remote I/O concept is a universally pluggable system with an integrated web server. The application can thus be operated and commissioned particularly intuitively. The likelihood of errors is minimised.
The integrated web server of u-remote makes it possible to carry out the commissioning section by section and thus already before the overall commissioning of the system. This way, parts of the ride and their function can be tested individually. And error identification is also optimised: With an LED directly on the channel as well as status displays on each module, errors can be localised quickly, easily and also directly on site.
Thanks to the system's safety modules and features such as the integration of emergency stop circuits and open-circuit or short-circuit detection, u-remote meets all applicable requirements: Reliable operation of the system is guaranteed at all times. Maximum safety with optimum control.
All input sensors are independently supplied via separate voltage paths and report the current status of the amusement ride to the control unit. Weidmüller's safety modules also reduce maintenance and service times and improve response times in emergencies - thanks to OSSD outputs with maximum transparency, for example.
